A Battle History of the Imperial Japanese Navy

by Paul S. Dull

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Dull gives a detailed operational history of the Imperial Japanese Navy from Pearl Harbor to the end of the war, based largely on Japanese sources. He covers the major fleet actions as well as the many smaller engagements in the Solomons and elsewhere.

Written from the Japanese perspective, it is valuable for understanding how the war at sea looked from the other side, and it fills gaps left by American accounts that focus on their own forces.
