Black Tornado

by Sandeep Unnithan

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Unnithan reconstructs the operations of the National Security Guard, the Marine Commandos and the Mumbai Police during the terrorist attacks of 26 November 2008. He follows the fighting at the Taj and Oberoi hotels and at Nariman House over three days.

Based on interviews with those involved, the book is a tense account of urban counter-terrorism. It shows both the courage of individuals and the failures of preparation, coordination and response that the attacks exposed.
