War & StrategyBook note
Call Sign Chaos
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
General Jim Mattis reflects on a career in the US Marine Corps, from leading a platoon to commanding US Central Command. He writes about leadership at three levels, direct, executive and strategic, and about the importance of reading history.
The book is direct, practical and full of lessons on preparation, trust and decision-making. Its insistence that leaders who have not read hundreds of books are functionally illiterate will appeal to anyone who keeps a reading log.
