Genius Weapons

by Louis A. Del Monte

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Del Monte, a physicist and former engineer, examines how artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, nanotechnology and other emerging technologies will change warfare. He describes weapons that can select and engage targets on their own and considers the risk of an arms race in which humans lose control.

The book is written for a general audience and is at times speculative, but it raises the right questions about ethics, escalation and accountability. It pairs well with Paul Scharre's Army of None.
