Himalayan Blunder

by J. P. Dalvi

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Brigadier John Dalvi commanded the 7th Infantry Brigade on the Namka Chu in the North-East Frontier Agency in 1962. His brigade was overrun by Chinese forces and he spent months as a prisoner of war.

His book is a first-hand account of the disaster and an angry critique of the political and military leadership that sent poorly equipped troops into an untenable position. It remains one of the most powerful Indian accounts of the war.
