Leadership in War

by Andrew Roberts

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Roberts profiles war leaders from Napoleon and Nelson to Churchill, Hitler, Stalin, Marshall, de Gaulle, Eisenhower and Margaret Thatcher. He asks what made each of them effective and what their failures teach.

Each chapter is a short, lively essay, and Roberts' main argument is that leadership is a mix of character, vision and the ability to communicate. It is a good companion to his Hitler and Churchill, reviewed on this site.
