Limited War: Revisiting Kargil in the Indo-Pak Conflict
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Chandran revisits the 1999 Kargil conflict as a case study of limited war between two nuclear-armed neighbours. He examines Pakistan's motives in occupying the heights, the intelligence failures on the Indian side, India's military and diplomatic response, and the decision not to cross the Line of Control.
The book's value is in applying limited war theory to South Asia. It shows how political aims, international pressure and the nuclear shadow kept the conflict contained, and asks what Kargil suggests about how a future crisis might unfold.
