The Autobiography of Bertrand Russell

by Bertrand Russell

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Russell's autobiography covers his long life, from his aristocratic Victorian childhood through his work in mathematics and philosophy, his imprisonment for opposing the First World War, his marriages, and his campaigns against nuclear weapons.

Written with wit and candour, it is one of the great autobiographies of the twentieth century. Its opening, on the three passions that governed his life, the longing for love, the search for knowledge and pity for the suffering of mankind, is often quoted.
