Weapons of Peace

by Raj Chengappa

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Chengappa, a journalist, tells the story of India's quest to become a nuclear power, from Homi Bhabha and Jawaharlal Nehru through the 1974 test to the Pokhran tests of 1998. He draws on interviews with scientists, officials and politicians.

It reads like a thriller and is full of behind-the-scenes detail. It is a useful companion to Perkovich's more academic India's Nuclear Bomb.
