1946: Last War of Independence

by Pramod Kapoor

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Kapoor tells the story of the Royal Indian Navy mutiny of February 1946, when sailors in Bombay and other ports rose against their British officers. The uprising spread quickly and drew support from the public.

The book argues that the mutiny played a significant role in convincing the British that they could no longer rely on Indian forces, and it restores the episode to the history of the independence movement.
