War & StrategyBook note
American Admiralship
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Puryear applies the approach of his studies of generals to US Navy admirals, examining leaders such as Nimitz, King, Halsey, Spruance and Burke. He looks at what made them effective, including character, decision-making, mentorship and the ability to delegate.
Based on extensive interviews, it is a valuable study of naval leadership and a natural companion to American Generalship and to E. B. Potter's biographies of Nimitz and Burke.
