American Caesar
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Manchester's biography of Douglas MacArthur follows his career from West Point to the First World War, the defence of the Philippines, the Pacific campaigns, the occupation of Japan and the Korean War, ending with his dismissal by President Truman.
The book portrays a brilliant, vain and controversial general, and it remains one of the most readable military biographies ever written.
