Fighting to the End

by C. Christine Fair

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Fair analyses the strategic culture of the Pakistan Army and argues that it is a revisionist institution that defines victory as not being defeated. Using the army's own publications, she shows how ideology and identity drive its persistent hostility toward India.

The book is closely argued and provocative, and its conclusion that Pakistan's army will keep fighting regardless of costs has significant implications for India and for Western policy. It is an important study of how an institution's worldview shapes national strategy.
