India & Its NeighboursBook note
India's Strategic Culture
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Paranjpe examines how India's history, geography, philosophical traditions and political experience have shaped its approach to national security. He looks at ideas from ancient texts, the independence movement, Nehru's outlook and the evolution of policy after 1947.
The book is a useful academic study of the debate about whether India has a strategic culture at all, and of how its national security policy is made.
