War & StrategyBook note
Maritime Strategy and Continental Wars
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Rear Admiral Raja Menon examines how maritime power can influence wars that are decided mainly on land. Drawing on historical examples, he argues that navies of continental powers must think about how their operations affect the land campaign, and he applies this to India's position.
The book is a serious contribution from an Indian naval strategist, and its focus on the link between sea and land is directly relevant to Indian planning. It is particularly useful for readers who want to move beyond Mahan's blue-water model.
