Napoleon the Great
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Roberts' biography of Napoleon draws on the emperor's newly published correspondence to give a full portrait. He covers Napoleon's rise from Corsica, his military campaigns, his reforms in law, administration and education, and his fall and exile.
The book is long, beautifully written and admiring, and its judgement that Napoleon deserves to be called great despite his flaws has provoked debate.
