World Affairs & HistoryBook note
Original Sin
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Johny, a journalist with The Hindu, traces the Israel-Palestine conflict from the end of the Ottoman Empire and the Balfour Declaration through the creation of Israel, the wars of 1948, 1967 and 1973, the Oslo process and the war in Gaza that began in October 2023.
The book is written for an Indian audience and offers a clear historical framework for a conflict that dominates the headlines. It argues that the roots of today's violence lie in decisions made a century ago.
