Soldiering with Dignity

by Depinder Singh

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Lieutenant General Depinder Singh served as Military Assistant to Sam Manekshaw and writes a biography of India's first Field Marshal. He covers Manekshaw's early career, his service in Burma, and his leadership of the Army during the 1971 war.

The book draws on close personal acquaintance and offers an affectionate portrait of a commander known for his wit, independence and judgement, especially in his famous refusal to rush into war before the Army was ready.
