The Challenge of Command
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Colonel Roger Nye wrote this book for young officers who want to prepare themselves for command by reading. He organises it around the roles a commander must play, such as fighter, moral arbiter, mentor and strategist, and recommends books on each.
It is a reading guide as much as a book on leadership, and it makes the case that the study of history and biography is the best preparation for command. It appears on the Ten Book List on this site.
