The India-Pakistan Military Standoff

by Zachary S. Davis (ed.)

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

This edited volume studies the 2001–02 standoff that followed the attack on India's Parliament, when the two countries mobilised large forces along the border. Contributors examine the crisis, escalation risks, the nuclear dimension and the role of outside powers.

It is a detailed case study of how close South Asia came to war and of the factors that brought both sides back.
