India & Its NeighboursBook note
An Era of Darkness
Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.
Tharoor argues that British rule was disastrous for India, causing economic decline, famines and deep social and political divisions. The book grew from his widely shared speech at the Oxford Union debate on reparations in 2015.
It is polemical and widely read in India, and it connects to Will Durant's The Case for India, reviewed on this site.
