Battle at Sea

by John Keegan

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Keegan studies four naval battles, Trafalgar in 1805, Jutland in 1916, Midway in 1942 and the convoy battles of the Atlantic, to show how technology changed the experience and nature of fighting at sea, from wooden sailing ships to aircraft carriers and submarines.

Keegan was one of the great military historians, and his attention to the human experience of combat, here applied to the sea, makes the book a classic. It was first published as The Price of Admiralty.
