World Order

by Henry Kissinger

Description. A short description of a book from my bookshelf, not a review.

Kissinger examines the different conceptions of world order held by Europe, with its Westphalian system of sovereign states, the Islamic world, China and the United States. He asks how a stable international order can emerge when these visions coexist and compete.

Written late in his life, it is reflective and wide-ranging, and it complements Diplomacy by looking beyond the European balance of power to a genuinely global system.
